Vesque von Püttlingen, Johann, 1803-1883

Austrian lawyer, diplomat, singer, and composer. He studied law in Vienna and worked in the civil and diplomatic service, between 1827 and 1872, advancing to chief administrative officer of Salzburg and to the top of the foreign ministry. For his service, he was created a baron in 1866. He was also an accomplished composer and singer, producing over 330 lieder, six operas, and roughly twenty quartets.
