Scala, Giovanni, active 1547-1599

Astronomer, mathematician, architect, draftsman, and military engineer from Friuli who worked in Rome and had the support of important French patrons in France, including King Henry IV. He illustrated a treatise on military engineering with surveying instructions in 1593, which was subsequently published in Rome and was followed by several editions
