Vincent, of Beauvais, -1264. Speculum majus

Florilegium compiled by Vincent de Beauvais, drawing upon 450 authors and comprised of three parts: Speculum Naturale (natural history), Speculum Doctrinale (liberal and mechanical arts), and Speculum Historiale (universal history). From the fourteenth century, printed editions included a fourth part, the Speculum Morale, that was compiled by Franciscans in the 1310s.
