Vita Sancti Alexii
Legendary Syriac story about Alexios, a 'man of God' who died under Bishop Rabbulā of Edessa (412-435). Before his death the ascetic Alexios or Mar Riscia related that, as a son of a rich Roman family, he had fled to Edessa to avoid marriage and dedicate himself to God. The Greek version from before the 9th century had Alexios return to Rome and live in the house of his parents unrecognized. The Latin version appeared in the 10th century.
