Augustine, of Hippo, Saint, 354-430. De Genesi contra Manichaeos
Commentary in two books on Genesis, namely the two Creation narratives, employing devices such as metonymy, analogy, and allegory. Written between 388 and 390, it was meant to refute Manichean doctrine and was Augustine's first scriptural exegesis.
