Dayr Sayyidat Ṭāmīsh
Maronite monastery in Matn, Mount Lebanon, Lebanon. This monastery was founded by Archbishop Jibrīl al-Blūzāwī, the Archbishop of Aleppo, in 1673 CE. He established it as his seat, and it housed a number of monks and nuns. After Jibrāyil Farḥāt succeeded al-Blūzāwī in Aleppo, he saw that the monastery was almost falling apart. With the approval of the Patriarch, he requested the transfer of the nuns who were residing there to another monastery, and, in 1727, he handed it over to the Lebanese Order to pay off its debts and restore it. After the division of the Lebanese Order, this monastery fell under the jurisdiction of the Lebanese Maronite Order. From 1855 onwards, this monastery housed a printing press for less than twenty years. This monastery was the residence of the Superior General until 1913. Currently, it serves as the Grand Seminary of the Order.
