Durante, Silvestro, -1672

Italian composer, singer, and organist, who was active in Rome. He was maestro di cappella at Santa Maria in Trastevere and late at Santa Maria della Consolazione in Rome. He was known for his virtuosity at organ and for his sacred compositions, particularly as a member of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. He died around 1672, possibly in Rome.
