Maksīmūs III Maẓlūm, Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, 1779-1855

Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, whose disputed election in 1810 was overthrown by Rome in 1815. He lived in Rome and Europe from 1813-1831, where he translated several works of Alfonso Maria de' Liguori into Arabic. He was titular bishop of Diocese of Abydus (1816-1817) and titular Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Myra (1817-1836). He did not acquire the patriarchate until 1838, when he was made Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, Jerusalem, and Alexandria by Pope Gregory XVI, a position he held until his death in 1855.
