Beys, Gilles, 1541?-1595
He was a printer and bookseller, apprenticed to Christophe Plantin in Antwerp. He moved to Paris in 1567 to run the Paris branch of the Plantiana, but established his own bookselling business when he was replaced as the head of the office. He returned to Antwerp from 1590 to 1594, then returned to Paris in 1594. His printshop addresses were: in Paris, 1567-1589: Rue Saint-Jacques (en l'officine Plantinienne); in Antwerp, 1590-1594: (in de) Cammerstraat, Hujdevetterstraat; in Paris, 1594-95: Rue Saint-Jacques (à la boutique de Plantin).
