Plantin, Christophe, approximately 1520-1589
Flemish printer, publisher, and bookbinder of French origin, the founder of the Plantin-Moretus family. He primarily worked in Antwerp at the Plantijnsche Drukkerij (Officina Plantiniana) with shops in Leiden and Paris. The Antwerp shop was taken over by his son-in-law Jan Moretus after Plantin’s death. Associated with the Familia Caritatis.
