Anjou-Châteaudun (Royal House : 1060-1185)

House that began with Geoffrey III, Count of Anjou (c. 1040-1096), who inherited the title through his mother, Ermengarde of Anjou (c. 1018-1076) after the death of his uncle Geoffrey II, Count of Anjou (1006-1060). The Châteaudun came from Geoffrey III's father, Geoffrey II, Count of Gâtinais (d. 1043 or 1046), who was the son of Hugues du Perche of the Viscounty of Châteaudun. The family inherited the title of King of Jerusalem through Fulk V, Count of Anjou, who became king in 1109 upon relinquishing the title of count to his son. The line ended with the death of King Baldwin IV on March 16, 1185.
