Valois-Orléans (Royal house : 1498-1515)
When Charles VIII Valois, king of France, died without an heir, his second cousin Louis, Duke of Orléans, the son of Charles, Duke of Orléans and Marie of Cleves, inherited the throne as a cadet branch of the Valois house. Louis XII (1462-1515) was the sole ruler of this royal house, as he died without heirs leaving the crown to his cousin and son-in-law, Francis of the Valois-Angoulême branch of the family.
