Accademia Aldina
The Accademia Aldina was founded in 1494 by the Venetian humanist and printer Aldo Manuzio with philological aims of promoting the edition and printing of Greek, Latin, and Italian classics. It welcomed the major humanists of the time, such as Pietro Bembo, Girolamo Fracastoro, amd Giovan Battista Ramusio. Erasmus of Rotterdam was also part of the Academy. The academy closed after the death of Manuzio in 1515.
